A visual conversation about the tension between exploring and protecting the natural world. This recent, unique and unpublished series of diptychs is searching for a home. The act founding the National Park Service asked it to balance preservation and development. I created a series of diptychs capturing this conflict by pairing images of nature and of how people interact with it. During my 2015 artist-in-residency at Zion National Park, flash flooding killed 7 hikers in the park, punctuating the ferocity and unforgiving purity of our wild lands. These images from one park reflect the universal challenge of experiencing and protecting the natural world. Please contact me to publish a unique body of work at a historic moment in this conversation.
