Bevon Luhkay, 9, lies listlessly on his family� lone mattress, lacking the vitality of a healthy young boy in Essequibo, Guyana. The effects of malnutrition have taken a toll on all of the Luhkay children, who are often sick. Lacking adequate shelter, income and a steady source of food for her five children, Naomi Luhkay said she loses hope with each passing day. Without adequate nutrition, proper health is unlikely for children like Bevon and his siblings.
