Unable to walk, Maria Martinez Lopez, 9, spends her days confined to a hammock on her family� porch in Zacapa, Guatemala. Her parents think she has cerebral palsy but can't afford the medical supplies or the specialized education that would make her life more comfortable. In the developing world, the disabled are generally shunned, ignored and marginalized, even more so if they are poor.
